Marsegu island or the island of bats is a protected forest area, the extent of 240.20 ha. Sea areas is a Marine Natural Park area of ​​10,000 Ha. The potential of marine natural resources are quite large, colorful coral reefs that can be witnessed its beauty. Various shades of coral fish marine life in its diverse forms and sizes.

Island Marsegu can be found a variety of forest communities including: secondary forest which is the result of the actions of society as a land for gardening. Community secondary forest is forest that grows on the rocks, gradually there has been a process of weathering. This area was formerly a Primary forest trees with a diameter of more than 100 cm, but has been cut down and clear land to plant the tubers as a food ingredient.
Half of the island is a mangrove forest areas with mangrove species are also found in other areas, such as Rhizophora mucronata, Rhizophora apiculata, Brugueira gymnorrhiza, Brugueira sexangula, Ceriops tagal, Xylocarpus mollucensis, Xylocarpus granatum, Heritiera littoralis, Lumnitzera littorea, Aegiceras corniculatum , Excoecaria agallocha, Pemphis acidula and Scyphiphora hydrophyllacea.
Outermost zone of the mangrove area is then mixed with Rhizophora mucronata and Rhizophora apiculata in the middle is Brugueira gymnorrhiza, Brugueira sexangula, Ceriops tagal, Xylocarpus mollucensis and Xylocarpus granatum
 
In the eastern part of the forest vegetation there Marsegu Island beaches have white sand beaches along the 1600 meters. Types of vegetation found in this zone is Cordia subcordata, Pongamia pinnata, Terminalia catappa and Baringtonia asiatica. In the northern part there is a white sand beach Ipomea pescaprae zone dominated by wind grass (Spinifex littoreus) and Katang-katang (Ipomea pescaprae). This location is an attractive tourist place to enjoy the sea and breathe in the fresh coastal air.
For who want to camp or stay a few days on this island, there are 2 (two) wells as a source of fresh water which is usually also used by surrounding communities for drinking water, bathing and washing.

  • Ambon - Hunimua. (Land line)
  • Hunimua - Waipirit (Seram Island) uses Ferry (1.5 hours)
  • Waipirit - Piru - Pelita Jaya. (Land line ± 56 km)
  • Pelita Jaya - Marsegu Island. (Gaza sea ± 5 km)
