The Alwatzikhoebillah Palace

Overview
History of the Alwatzikhoebillah Palace is not be separated from the figure of the Middle Sultan, a prince of the Sultanate of Brunei who later became sultan in the Sultanate of Sarawak. The history began when the Central Sultan with his entourage, after a friendly visit (goodwill) to the Sultanate of Johor, Malaysia, stop in the Kingdom of Matan, Tanjungpura. At Matan, he was greeted warmly by the king of Matan, Panembahan Giri Kusuma, who later converted to Islam and the title of Sultan Muhammad Syafiuddin (1631-1668). Middle Sultan becomes interested in the religion of Islam on Sheikh Shamsuddin of Mecca who spread Islam in Matan. Shortly thereafter, the Middle Sultan is married to Queen Surya Kusuma, younger brother of Sultan Muhammad Syafiuddin.

After successfully building a city up, even more advanced than the Old Town, Central Sultan family led by Prince Solomon, decided to move to Lubuk Madung, which is the confluence of the Subah, Small Sambas River, and the Red River. Then, in the place established Alwatzikhoebillah Palace and the palace of the Prince Solomon was crowned as the first sultan of the Sultanate of Sambas with the title of Sultan Muhammad Syafiuddin.

However, Palace Alwatzikhoebillah seen today, was built during the reign of His Majesty Sultan Muhammad Ibrahim Syafiuddin (1931-1943), the 15th sultan of the Sultanate of Sambas.Construction of the palace was relatively brief, lasting from 1933 to 1935. That said, the cost of reaching 65 000 guilders were loaned by the Sultanate of Kutai.

Since February 2008, stakeholders Alwatzikhoebillah entrusted to the Prince Palace Queen M. Tarhan Winata Kesuma.

 
Feature
Old-fashioned but well maintained. Green and cool. That's about the impression that arise when setting foot in the Palace of the Sultanate of Sambas Alwatzikhoebillah this. To enter the palace area, visitors will pass through two gates. The first gate is the gate to enter the square and at the same time limiting the public road to the palace area, while the second gate to limit the square with a courtyard.

From the first gate, visitors can see how neat layout of the entire building. On the right side of the square, visitors can see the elegance of Masjid Jami 'Sultan Syafiuddin, Sambas Sultanate mosque. In the back of the square, visitors can see a pole like the mast which is surrounded by three cannon, and supported by four pillars. Philosophically, three cannon symbolizes the three rivers are located around the palace that must always be maintained.Four beams symbolize the four ministers as helpers sultan. While the two poles are located on the left and right pole signifying that in running the government the sovereign is always accompanied by scholars and preachers.

From the second gate, visitors can see three palace buildings with the dominant color of yellow as the color that symbolizes the typical Malay dignity and nobility of character. Just to the right and left side of the second gate, there are two meeting halls which was formerly used as a place to receive guests of honor before meeting with the sultan. Now, two hall meeting functioned as a drum.

The main palace building is located in the middle and has the largest size. On the left wing and right, there are buildings that connect directly with supporters of the main palace building. The building was formerly used as a left-wing place to entertain guests of honor, while the right-wing building is used to prepare for all purposes of the sultan and his family. Now, the left wing of the building was used as a place to store the heirlooms of the empire.

The interior of the palace consists of three rooms, namely the front room, middle, and back. The front room is the seat of the sultan and the empress. Here, visitors can see photos of the sultan and the imperial greatness clothing. The room was made up of four rooms was once a sultan and his family room. In this room, visitors can see photographs of the sultan with his family, honored guests, and events empire. While the back room of the smallest size, it looks empty.

In addition, visitors can see the old bathing pool on the right side of the family sultan's palace and the residence of the sultan's family was behind the palace.

In the afternoon, visitors will be amazed to see the exotic charm of this palace, especially seen from a boat that runs slowly on Small Sambas River.

Alun-alun Kapuas City Park
