Obi Island, South Halmahera

 

Natural beauty in eastern Indonesia exotic still not much known. One of them is the natural beauty of the island obi. Obi island located in the district halmahera southern, north Maluku province is a group of outer islands of Indonesia.

Natural conditions make the island is still virgin obi as a perfect ecotourism object. Natural charm of this island has to offer in the form of natural beauty and rich flora and fauna.

You can also find some rare animal species on the island of Ternate obi like a parrot (Lorius garulus).

Critical region on the island of Obi is located in the middle. The nearest town is Laiwui Obi which is a city district, located about 10km to the north. The main habitat type is evergreen rain forest. Its topography is hilly with steep slopes. This area is one place where the indigenous P. Obi of the Moro ethnic groups settled in small groups, they conduct activities to collect food, medicinal plants andhunting animals for consumption. We have several groups of the Moro people who have lived in coastal areas and interact with the locals. Type of plantation that became the main commodity for theinhabitants on the coast is to be used as coconut copra and cocoa.

On this island there are many rare plants such as Obi Matoa (Pometia pinnata), Gufasa (Vitex coffasus), Cemama(Anthocepallus macrophyllus), and forest orchids.
